If you are a leaseholder, you may be asked by the freeholder to make a contribution to the service charges for insurance in case your property need major reconstruction. How much should your contribution be?
The Building Cost Information Service (BCIS) of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is the national organisation that provides the data for use in these calculations.
BCIS is the principal source of residential rebuilding costs in the UK.
SW17 Surveyors Ltd have access to the BCIS database and can, for a fee, survey your property and input the relevant information into the database to provide you with an authoritative Building Insurance Reinstatement summary.
Your property information will include its size, the external spaces and facilities such as garages, gardens, boundaries, patios etc. If your property was affected by flood, fire or subsidence, you would like to know that you had adequate cover.
If this is a service you need, we would be happy to assist you in this matter.
